October Newsletter Summary
The Sacramento ASSP Chapter had a busy and successful October highlighted by the 2026 Sacramento Safety & Health Summit, which brought together safety professionals from across the region for a day of education, networking, and collaboration.
This month also featured a tour of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., where members learned about the company’s innovative sustainability and operational practices. We are proud to celebrate several chapter accomplishments, including Sacramento WISE earning the 2026 Silver ChapterWISE Distinction Award, Simone Sumeshwar, CHST, CSP, receiving the 2026 Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award, and Sam Rivers being recognized as our October WISE Member of the Month.
Members are encouraged to complete the extended Annual Chapter Survey, explore opportunities through our BSP, HSP, and WISE groups, and consider applying for our open Chapter Secretary position. We’re also looking forward to our upcoming Holiday Mixer benefiting our Community Interest Groups.
Thank you to our members, volunteers, sponsors, and chapter leaders for helping make October another outstanding month for Sacramento ASSP. We look forward to seeing you at future events and continuing to strengthen the safety profession throughout our region.
Sacramento ASSP Tours Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Explores the “E” in EHS
One of the best parts of ASSP is learning from organizations that are leading by example.
Recently, Sacramento ASSP members visited Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.’s Chico facility for a behind-the-scenes look at how sustainability is integrated into daily operations. The tour provided a unique opportunity to see how environmental stewardship, innovation, and business performance can work together to create a lasting impact. Sierra Nevada’s commitment to sustainability extends throughout its operations and serves as a great example of the important role the “E” plays in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS).
