ASSP Sacramento Chapter Student Scholarship Program
The ASSP Sacramento Chapter Scholarship Program is for students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in an EHS related field in a Northern California State College/ University and is a member of the ASSP Sacramento Chapter, who wishes to pursue a career in the EHS field with a desire to advance their learning potential.
An EHS program can include Human factors, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or other safety related curriculums.
Eligibility
Successful applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Students must be a current ASSP Student Member in good standing, be currently enrolled in an EHS program in Northern California, be in good standing with the college they are attending and carry a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 for undergraduate students, and 3.5 out of 4.0 for graduate students.
Complete and submit the ASSP award application form (including the following supporting documentation):
- A short narrative essay (500 words or less) describing why you are pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health (or a closely related field), and how the award will be used to improve your education (or career goal).
- A transcript that verifies academic standing and GPA.
- A safety faculty Letter of Recommendation (500 words or less).
Scholarship awards will be based on grammar/punctuation/spelling, academic performance, community service, leadership activities and the overall presentation and argument in the application.
Guidelines:
Scholarships will be awarded annually. Selection will be determined by a voluntary committee (minimum 2, maximum 5). Made up of members of the ASSP Sacramento Awards and Scholarship Committee.
Amount:
Each scholarship award will carry a monetary value of $500 distributed directly to each student awardee.
Deadlines:
Fall Semester:
- August 31st for application submittal
- Awardees selected by September 30th.
Spring Semester:
- January 31st for application submittal
- Awardees selected by February 28th
Awards will be presented at the next in person chapter event.
Winners of the scholarship will receive free entry to the Safety Summit.
