This month, we’re excited to introduce Daovina Nguyen, CSP, CHST, our ASSP Sacramento Chapter President-Elect!
Daovina has spent the last 10 years in the safety profession and has been an active member of the Sacramento ASSP Chapter for over 10 years, helping build connections and strengthen our local safety community along the way.
Currently, Daovina is embracing one of her most important roles, Mom, while staying connected to the safety profession through her ongoing involvement with ASSP Sacramento. Her experience in the safety field, leadership within the chapter, and continued commitment to our safety community demonstrate that professional passion and personal priorities can successfully go hand in hand.
What inspired her to pursue a career in safety? A simple but impactful philosophy: preventing injuries rather than treating them. That prevention-focused mindset has guided her throughout her career and continues to shape her approach to safety today.
When asked what she enjoys most about ASSP, her answer was immediate: COMMUNITY. For Daovina, every ASSP event feels like a family reunion, bringing together professionals who can learn from one another, share experiences, and grow together.
One accomplishment she’s particularly proud of? Reading an impressive 76 books in a single year! Her love of learning extends beyond the workplace and into her personal life.
Outside of safety, Daovina enjoys planning and traveling around the world and, of course, reading books whenever she gets the chance.
Fun fact: She once burned down her childhood playground. We think there is probably a story there that needs to be shared at a future chapter meeting!
Her best piece of safety advice is refreshingly straightforward:
“Just read it.”
Whether it’s a procedure, policy, instruction, or safety alert, taking the time to read and understand information can make all the difference.
And her favorite quote?
